The United States Navy cannot respond to any situational need with a carrier strike group – a group led by a CVN carrier
– the traditional strike carrier as pictured above. Not anywhere in the world except San Diego, CA, Bremerton, WA, and Norfolk VA. WE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BEFORE WORLD WAR II, ARE ABSOLUTELY NAKED AT SEA!
Remember, when the carrier group, illustrated below, was our first line of power for a world incident?
Remember when we had the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans covered? Our carrier strike groups made us a powerful multi-ocean navy.
Well, we are no longer a powerful multi-ocean navy, not even a one ocean navy. Today, we have no carrier battle groups on any ocean in the world.
Yes, not one CVN (aircraft carrier nuclear) carrier is at sea today. Source: http://www.gonavy.jp/CVLocation.html
and for the last one at sea, the Eisenhower, CVN-69, it arrived at its home port, Norfolk, yesterday.
We possess ten carrier strike groups. Each strike group contains one CVN carrier, at least one cruiser, a flotilla of six to ten destroyers and/or frigates, and an air wing of 65 to 70 aircraft and two attack submarines.
Let’s do the math: Our ten groups consist of 75,000 sailors, ten CVN carriers, ten cruisers, between sixty to one hundred destroyers and/or frigates, and between 650 to 700 planes and twenty attack submarines. Not one of these is at sea today.
Of our ten strike groups, only seven are able to put to sea, with three undergoing extended refitting, replenishment, and/or refueling. Is this “sit at home port navy” scheduling intentional or is it clumsiness? Either way, we must consider why.
Why has the Obama administration allowed this to happen? If intentional, what does he have in store for us in the next twenty days?
If unintentional, then the coming change in administrations is way overdue. Why is this barely being reported by the media? We know way more than we want to know or need to know about the alleged hacking of the DNC, Clinton Campaign, and Podesta, but we are silent on the ghost navy.
